Τέλος πάντων, την είδηση του τέλους τους την άκουσα χθες στο NOVA Σπορ 94,6 στη 1 και τέταρτο μετά τα μεσάνυχτα- αλλά γι αυτό το (ραδιοφωνικό) γεγονός θα τα πούμε αύριο στο editorial.
Πρέπει πάντως να είμαστε η μοναδική χώρα στον κόσμο που η συναυλία τους πήγε άπατη. Και πότε, ε; Στο peak της καριέρας τους. Ήρθε, τότε, το μεγαλύτερο αμερικάνικο όνομα και μάζεψε μόνο 5,5 χιλιάδες κόσμο. Το 2005. Το καλοκαίρι. Στο πάλαι ποτέ ένδοξο χώρο του Beach Volley που τώρα ρημάζει. Δεν μας περιποιεί τιμή αυτό. Ήταν η απαρχή, νομίζω, μίας μακράς περιόδου παρακμής του ελληνικού συναυλιακού κοινού (που συνεχίζεται ακόμα, χωρίς η λήξη της να φαίνεται στον ορίζοντα).
Όχι βέβαια πως το γκρουπ μας φέρθηκε καλύτερα. Λίγος αέρας φύσηξε εκείνη τη νύχτα και ο Τζακ και η Μεγκ τρόμαξαν. Και έφυγαν Έτσι ξαφνικά. Φοβήθηκαν. Και μας άφησαν να περιμένουμε ακόμα...
The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health.
It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve What is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way. Meg and Jack want to thank every one of their fans and admirers for the incredible support they have given throughout the 13 plus years of the White Stripes intense and incredible career.
Third Man Records will continue to put out unreleased live and studio recordings from The White Stripes in their Vault Subscription record club, as well as through regular channels.
Both Meg and Jack hope this decision isnt met with sorrow by their fans but that it is seen as a positive move done out of respect for the art and music that the band has created. It is also done with the utmost respect to those fans whove shared in those
creations, with their feelings considered greatly.
The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your
involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful.

03 Φεβρουαρίου 2011Διαλύθηκαν οι White Stripes, το αμερικάνικο ντουέτο που σημάδεψε με τα άλμπουμ του την προηγούμενη δεκαετία. Όπως θα διαβάσετε και παρακάτω, δεν προέκυψαν καλλιτεχνικές διαφορές ή κάτι άλλο ανάλογο μεταξύ του Τζακ (σπουδαίος!) και της Μεγκ. Και οι δύο, επίσης, είναι καλά στην υγεία τους. Απλώς τους τελείωσε η φάση. Ο Τζακ άλλωστε, αυτή η ιδιοφυία, έχει τραβήξει άλλους μουσικούς δρόμους εδώ και πολύ καιρό. Μιλάμε για έναν καλλιτέχνη, αληθινό genius. Πολυσχιδή. Πολυτάλαντο. Τελευταία του δουλειά, η παραγωγή στο άλμπουμ της Wanda Jackson! The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live.The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health.
